1999–2000Stamford
Two summers on the water, before any of the web jobs. Sail maintenance, then a season teaching on Colgate 26s.
2001Burlington
Champlain College, web design. The year after, Rutter Interactive starts — a freelance studio that runs until 2014.
2009Norwalk
Direct Wines. Designer, then director, then VP, through 2022. Wine-club ecommerce in the US, the UK, and Australia.
2011The book
Smashing jQuery, for Wiley. About three months, 300+ pages, over 5,000 copies.
2022Connecticut and Delaware
VF Corporation, through 2024. Global front end for The North Face, Vans, Timberland, and the wider group.
2025London
SharkNinja, from the Battersea office. Home in Barnes. VP, DTC Engineering & Applied AI since September 2026.

Smashing jQuery

After running a blog for several years, I was approached by Wiley to write a book on jQuery. It took about three months and came in over 300 pages. Sold through the major outlets, over 5,000 copies. I sent copies to John Resig and Addy Osmani.
